A profit split is the agreed share of profit that a funded trader keeps; the rest stays with the prop firm. At Greenwick you keep 80% on 2-Step and 1-Step accounts, rising to 90%, and 70% on Instant accounts, rising to 80%. This guide explains every part of the prop firm payout process in India, with real rupee examples, so you know exactly what lands in your bank and when.
Most traders spend months thinking about how to pass an evaluation and very little time thinking about how they will actually get paid. That is backwards. The payout is the point. If you understand the split, the cycle, the review and the few rules that can delay a payout, you can plan your trading around them instead of being surprised at the end of a good fortnight.
01What a profit split actually means
When you trade a funded account, you are trading the firm's simulated capital under a published set of rules. You bring the skill and the discipline. The firm takes the risk of paying you from its own funds when you perform. The profit split is how the result is shared.
The maths is simple. If your funded account shows net profit of ₹50,000 in a payout cycle and your split is 80%, your share is ₹40,000. The firm's share is ₹10,000. There is no hidden deduction on top of that. Prices on Greenwick plans already include GST, and the split is calculated on net profit for the cycle.
02Greenwick profit split by plan
The split depends on which route you took to funding. Evaluation plans ask you to prove yourself first, so they start with a higher share. Instant funding skips the evaluation, so the starting share is lower and the rules on the funded account are tighter. You can compare the routes in detail on our 1-Step vs 2-Step vs Instant guide.
| Plan | Starting split | Maximum split | Consistency cap | Fee refund |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2-Step | 80% | 90% | Best day ≤ 40% of cycle profit | On first payout, ₹10L and above |
| 1-Step | 80% | 90% | Best day ≤ 40% of cycle profit | On first payout, ₹10L and above |
| Instant | 70% | 80% | Best day ≤ 30% of cycle profit | Not included |
Instant accounts also need at least 7 profitable days in each payout cycle before a payout can be requested. That rule exists because an Instant account never had to show a track record through an evaluation. The full list sits on the rules page.
03Prop firm payout examples in rupees
Numbers make this concrete. The examples below use the founding prices listed on the pricing page. Profit figures are illustrations, not projections. Your own results will differ, and losses are always possible.
The fee refund is added once, to the first payout only. Later payouts are your profit share alone.
After scaling to 80%, the same ₹40,000 cycle would pay ₹32,000.
On a ₹5L 2-Step account, a ₹25,000 cycle pays ₹20,000 at 80%. There is no fee refund at that size, and payouts run on the 14-day cycle rather than weekly.
04Payout cycle: every 14 days or weekly
You can request a payout every 14 days. On account sizes of ₹10L and above, you can request one every week. Your dashboard shows the date your next request window opens and the profit currently eligible for payout.
Weekly payouts are not just about cash flow. They also change behaviour. Taking money out regularly turns a number on a screen into rupees in your account, and many traders find that it calms them down. It also removes the temptation to keep pushing a winning run until it turns into a losing one.
A few practical points help the cycle run smoothly:
- Eligible profit is net profit. Losing days inside the cycle are set against winning days. A ₹70,000 gain followed by a ₹20,000 loss gives ₹50,000 of cycle profit, not ₹70,000.
- Your loss floors still apply. Requesting a payout does not pause the daily loss floor or the max loss floor. Keep trading to your normal plan while the request is reviewed.
- Payout-only rules are checked per cycle. The consistency ratio and any excluded news-window or expiry trades are worked out for the cycle you are requesting, and your dashboard shows the result before you submit.
- Instant needs profitable days. On Instant, at least 7 profitable days in the cycle are required, so a cycle with fewer winning days waits until that count is met.
If you are still working through an evaluation, none of this applies yet. Focus on the targets and loss limits first; our guide on how to pass a prop firm challenge covers that stage.
05From request to UPI: how payouts work
The process is short and visible at every stage. Nothing happens in a back room that you cannot see on your dashboard.
- Complete KYC once
Before your first payout, verify your PAN, your Aadhaar through DigiLocker, and a bank account in your own name. You do this only once per trader, not once per payout.
- Request the payout
When your cycle window opens, request the payout from your dashboard. It shows eligible profit, your split and the amount you will receive.
- Review within 24 hours
Each request is checked within 24 hours against the published rules: the payout-only rules, the hard rules and, on Instant, the profitable-day count.
- Same-day transfer
Approved payouts are sent the same day by UPI or bank transfer through IMPS or NEFT.
- UTR on dashboard and WhatsApp
The UTR reference for the transfer appears on your dashboard and is sent on WhatsApp, so you can match it with your bank statement.
The most common cause of a slow first payout is incomplete KYC. Keep your PAN, DigiLocker access and bank details ready the day you are funded, and confirm the bank account is in exactly the same name as your PAN.
06How the consistency rule affects payout timing
The consistency rule applies to funded accounts only, never during an evaluation. In any payout cycle, your best single day must be no more than 40% of your total profit for that cycle. On Instant accounts the cap is 30%.
The important part is what happens when you exceed it. Nothing closes. Your account stays open, your profit stays yours, and the payout simply waits until more trading days bring the ratio back under the cap. It is a timing rule, not a penalty.
This assumes the ₹26,000 day stays your best day. If a later day is larger, that day becomes the new reference.
On Instant the same idea applies at 30%. A best day of ₹12,000 in a ₹30,000 cycle is 40% of the total, so the payout waits until cycle profit reaches ₹40,000 (₹12,000 ÷ 0.30).
The consistency rule does not punish a big day. It asks you to show that the big day was not the whole story.
The practical lesson is to size your trades so that no single session dominates. The risk management guide for funded traders shows how to set risk per trade so that your results build steadily rather than in one jump.
07Payout-only rules worth knowing
Greenwick separates rules into two kinds. Five hard rules close an account: breaching the daily loss floor, breaching the max loss floor, hedging across Greenwick accounts or running several accounts as one person, copy-trading or bots without written approval, and platform abuse. Everything else on this list only adjusts or delays a payout.
Consistency
Best day within 40% of cycle profit, or 30% on Instant. If exceeded, the payout waits for more trading days.
News window
Profit from trades opened within 5 minutes either side of a listed event, such as RBI policy, the Union Budget or index-heavy results, is not counted for payout.
Expiry last 30 minutes
New option positions opened in the last 30 minutes of expiry day are not counted for payout. Closing positions is always fine.
The event list appears on your dashboard each morning. If an event is listed at 10:00 IST, trades opened between 09:55 and 10:05 IST do not count toward payout profit. You are not barred from trading; the profit from those trades is just excluded from the payout calculation.
Separately, intraday MIS positions auto-close at 15:15 IST, and overnight NRML positions are allowed only where your plan permits. That is an order rule, not a breach. Our drawdown guide explains how open positions count against your loss floors.
- Check the dashboard event list before the open
- Finish expiry-day option entries before the final 30 minutes
- Spread profit across several sessions in each cycle
- Request on time and keep your UTR records
- Opening trades in the seconds around RBI or Budget announcements
- Chasing last-half-hour expiry premiums for payout profit
- Relying on one oversized day to make the cycle
- Leaving KYC until the day you want to withdraw
08Scaling plan: bigger account, bigger split
Consistent funded traders can grow both their account and their share. Every 4 months, if you have taken at least 2 payouts and made at least 10% net profit, your account grows by 25% and your split rises by 5 percentage points, up to the plan maximum.
| Stage | Account size | Split (2-Step / 1-Step) | Profit share on a 5% cycle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Funded | ₹10,00,000 | 80% | ₹50,000 × 80% = ₹40,000 |
| Scale 1 | ₹12,50,000 | 85% | ₹62,500 × 85% = ₹53,125 |
| Scale 2 | ₹15,62,500 | 90% | ₹78,125 × 90% = ₹70,312 |
| Scale 3 | ₹19,53,125 | 90% (max) | ₹97,656 × 90% = ₹87,890 |
| Scale 4 | ₹24,41,406 | 90% (max) | ₹1,22,070 × 90% = ₹1,09,863 |
Figures are rounded down to the rupee. The "5% cycle" column only shows how the same percentage return pays more as the account grows; it is not a target or a forecast. On Instant, the split scales from 70% to 75% and then to 80%, which is the Instant maximum.
09An honest note on simulated capital
It matters to be clear about what a funded account is. Greenwick evaluations and funded accounts use simulated capital with live prices from Indian markets. Your trades are not routed to an exchange. Your payouts are rewards paid from Greenwick's own funds, based on your simulated performance under the published rules.
Greenwick is not a broker and not an investment adviser. A funded account is a structured way to be rewarded for disciplined trading without putting your own capital on the line beyond the plan fee. It is not a promise of income. Trading involves risk, and many traders do not reach a payout. If you are new to the model, start with what a prop firm is.
If Greenwick changes a rule, the change applies only to accounts bought after it. Your split, payout cycle and payout-only rules stay as they were on the day you bought your plan.
10Tax on prop firm payouts in India
Payouts may be taxable income in India. How they are classified, and what you can set against them, depends on your own circumstances. We do not give tax advice, so please speak to a chartered accountant before you file.
What you can do is keep clean records. Download your payout statements from the dashboard, keep the UTR reference for each transfer, and note the date and amount of each payout. A CA can work far faster with a tidy file than with a scroll of WhatsApp messages.
Treat every payout as earned, not expected. Size your trading for the account rules first, and let the payout follow. If you have questions that are not covered here, the Greenwick FAQ collects the most common ones in one place.
